Discover the enchanting world of Handpans with BackEyePan, where each instrument is much more than a simple sound sculpture, but a handcrafted work of art shaped with passion and devotion.
Based in the heart of the Vercors mountains, in the picturesque commune of Autrans, France, our workshop is the fruit of a deep fascination with the unique sound of Handpans and inspiring encounters in cultural circles. It's here that our unique creations are born, under the guidance of a solitary craftsman driven by a burning passion for music and craftsmanship.
In this workshop, nestled in the heart of a "tiers-lieu", where different trades rub shoulders, I work alone, meticulously shaping each Handpan by hand. Each piece is the fruit of many hours' work, in which the fine metal is shaped and harmonized to create a unique sound and patina for each creation.
Each handpan that leaves our workshop is a unique piece, bearing the imprint of its creator and the soul of the Vercors region. Whether to enrich your collection of musical instruments or to explore new sonic horizons, we are proud to offer you works of art that transcend the boundaries of traditional music.
Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of Handpans with BackEyePan, where passion, craftsmanship and music come together to create unique and unforgettable sound experiences.
As an autodidact, I've had the privilege of crossing paths with other people who are passionate about handpans.
There is no academic program dedicated to the art of making handpans.
Thanks to an atypical life path, interspersed with varied professional experiences, I've had the opportunity to meet inspiring people. The exchanges and encounters that have marked this journey have enabled me to assimilate the knowledge and skills necessary to create the sound sculptures I propose today.

It's hard to find your way around.
Especially as the vocabulary is different from that of solfeggio. Worse still, it sometimes borrows terms to describe different elements.
I propose to help you make sense of this maze of terms.
Timbre, Sustain, Harmonies, Bridges, Appearance, Presence, Fundamental, Octave, Third, Quarter, Fifth...
Each instrument can possess a unique set of sound characteristics.
There are many variables that can influence the "timbre" of each realization.
By expressing your expectations. I will integrate your feelings and desires into the creation of YOUR instrument.
Brushing, polishing, heat treatment...
These skating techniques offer artists and craftsmen a wide range of options for creating unique, personalized finishes on steel, enabling them to express their creativity and style in their creations.
This is a stage I'm particularly fond of.
It allows me to personalize each instrument in a totally unique way.
